Methods

Methods for a lighter evening

These are short methods for the end of an ordinary day: getting everything out of your head, naming what you feel, closing the day with one thing for tomorrow. Each page explains the method step by step, what to say, and shows on an example evening what Leeway, a new voice journal opening soon on iPhone, is designed to show.

By the Leeway team · Updated October 17, 2026

Most of these methods were not invented for apps. A brain dump, a rose bud thorn round at dinner, naming a feeling to calm it down: people have used them with paper, with friends, or alone on a walk. They all work better when they are short and done often.

Each page gives the method in a few steps and the exact words to start with. Then it plays an example evening, said out loud in about two minutes, and shows what Leeway is designed to give back: a name for the evening, a map of how it moved, your emotional reserve and mental load, a reflection in your own words and one small step for tomorrow.

You can use every method without Leeway. Leeway is simply built around the same idea: say it, see it, keep one small step.

Questions

Do these methods need an app?

No. Each one works with paper, a voice memo or nothing at all. The example evenings show what Leeway is designed to add: a name for the evening, two scores that move over time, and one small step for tomorrow.

How long should a method take?

Two to five minutes is enough for most evenings. A short method you do often tends to help more than a long one you skip.

Are the example evenings real?

No. They are written by the Leeway team to show what a typical evening could look like. Leeway is not released yet.
