Leeway, explained
Is the Leeway AI voice journal any good?
Leeway may suit adults who prefer speaking to writing and want one small step after reflecting. As of October 24, 2026, it is not publicly released, so we cannot offer an independent verdict on its quality. It is planned for iPhone, for ages 18 and up, with pricing still unannounced.
Who is answering?
This page is written by the Leeway team, not an independent reviewer. Leeway at joinleeway.app is built by Tanel Petelot and Thomas Bru. It is unrelated to other apps called Leeway. We describe the intended experience and the published policies; we do not claim that planned features have been validated in everyday use.
What is Leeway designed to do?
- Ask one evening question, with voice or writing as your answer.
- Reflect the emotions in your voice and words, with room for you to correct the interpretation.
- Show emotional reserve and mental load as estimates, alongside your reflection.
- Suggest one small step for tomorrow. You can keep it, swap it or set it aside; a kept step returns in the morning.
- Help you revisit entries and notice what weighs on you or helps over time.
See the homepage for the intended flow, or try the small-step exercise without an app.
Is Leeway available, and what does it cost?
As of October 24, 2026, the public site offers a waitlist, not an App Store download. The announced target is mid-November 2026; it is a plan, not a confirmed release. Leeway is intended for iPhone first and for adults 18 and older. No public Android or web app release is offered here.
Pricing has not been announced. We cannot label the app free or quote a subscription, trial or purchase price. Joining the website waitlist does not buy the app. Check the launch information before choosing a paid plan.
What does privacy mean here?
The published app privacy policy describes a journal stored on your iPhone and, if enabled, your private iCloud. With permission, entries are sent through Leeway’s server to Google’s paid Gemini API for analysis. This is not an entirely offline journal.
The policy states that Leeway’s server keeps no copy of journal content, Google does not use it for model training, and Google may retain requests for a limited period for abuse monitoring. It also describes technical service logs. “Private” does not mean that no processor receives your entry. Read the policy for recipients, retention, deletion and withdrawal of permission. These are published commitments, not an independent security audit.
The website and waitlist privacy policy is separate from the app policy.
What should you not expect?
- A medical diagnosis, treatment or replacement for professional care. Leeway is a wellness journal.
- A reliable reading of everything you feel. AI interpretations and scores may be wrong; they are estimates to review.
- A promised mood benefit or resolution of a difficult situation.
- Verified customer ratings or established benefits. This page provides neither testimonials nor outcome statistics.
If you need something available today, consult the dated journal app comparisons. If you want a fully offline journal, review each app’s actual processing arrangements before choosing.
